Holy Cannoli, the day is finally here!

Happy #NationalCannoliDay! While we celebrate cannoli every day, we’re thrilled to have some fun and spread some cannoli awareness and facts with you. Plus, we’ve partnered with social media gurus to give away prizes that are sure to excite.

Cannoli come from Italy and have been served as a delicious treat since somewhere between 827 and 1091. While the Golden Cannoli Shells Company was started much more recently than that, we’ve got our signature, high-quality taste and golden finish down to a science. For more than 50 years, our product line has grown to include not only our original cannoli shells, but also chocolate covered shells, a range of cannoli fillings and dips and our very own creation: the cannoli chip.

Some fun facts about cannoli:

• The word cannoli is plural! When you only want one (and really, who only wants one?), it’s called a cannolo!
• One of the most famous cannoli references of all time was made up on the spot! In one of the more memorable lines of The Godfather, Clemenza says “Leave the gun – take the cannoli.” It turns out that the line in both the script and the novel only read: “Leave the gun.” We prefer the version with cannoli.
• The world record for the largest cannolo is a whopping 119.069 kg (or 262.5 lb). Who could create such a masterpiece? Actually, it was us! Our team at Golden Cannoli paired up with Lactalis American Group, Inc. in 2014, and no one has beaten us yet!
